Both at the EU and national level, governments are increasingly recognizing hydrogen’s importance in our future energy landscape, implementing research and policy support measures that foster sustainable deployment across countries.

Under the Clean Hydrogen Partnership (CHP) are several initiatives, bodies, and projects enhancing the clean hydrogen value chain to support environmentally- responsible hydrogen technologies.

The Clean Hydrogen Partnership is a unique public-private partnership supporting research and innovation (R&I) activities in hydrogen technologies in Europe. Its aim is to strengthen and integrate EU scientific capacity in order to accelerate the development and improvement of advanced clean hydrogen applications. The three members of the Joint Undertaking are the European Union, represented by the European Commission, the fuel cell and hydrogen industries represented by Hydrogen Europe, and the research community represented by Hydrogen Europe Research.

Hydrogen Europe is the leading organization representing European-based companies and stakeholders committed to moving towards a (circular) carbon-neutral economy. With more than 500 members, including 25+ EU regions and 30+ national associations, it encompasses the entire value chain of the European hydrogen and fuel cell ecosystem. Its vision is to propel global carbon neutrality by accelerating the European hydrogen industry. Hydrogen Europe is one of the three partners of the Clean Hydrogen Partnership.

Hydrogen Europe Research is an international, non-profit association composed of more than 150 universities and Research & Technology Organisations (RTOs) active within the European hydrogen and fuel cells sector. Hydrogen Europe Research supports and promotes research interests and creates a framework for cooperation between science and industry in Europe. Hydrogen Europe Research is one of the three partners of the Clean Hydrogen Partnership.

The European Hydrogen Observatory (EHO) is an initiative from the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, supported by other public and private partners and contributors. The EHO is a community platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and collective action, driving real-world impact and accelerating the adoption of hydrogen technologies. Its database grants access to detailed information about hydrogen production, technology manufacturing, infrastructure, distribution, storage and end-uses.
