Madrid, 6 February 2024: Today marks the beginning of HyPEF’s 3-year research journey, co-funded by the European Union and the Clean Hydrogen Partnership. This initiative brings together top European FCH technologists, environmental research institutes, and consultancies to support and promote the establishment of an environmentally responsible hydrogen economy.

HyPEF partners gathered at IMDEA Energy’s premises for the official opening of the project. The primary goal is to deliver and test the FIRST EVER Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules (PEFCRs) for fuel cells and hydrogen (FCH) products.

The kick-off event provided an opportunity for new partners to get acquainted and for existing collaborators to reunite. The consortium was introduced to the Project Officer, who joined online and provided an overview of the main requirements and best practices to ensure this Horizon Europe project achieves its objectives and has a long-lasting impact on the Clean Hydrogen value chain.

Welcome to HyPEF! We will deliver and test the FIRST EVER Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules (PEFCRs) for fuel cells and hydrogen (FCH) products.

During the meeting, key milestones, case studies, and stakeholder involvement strategies were discussed. Partners also had the chance to voice their preferences for the HyPEF logo. At the end of the meeting, HyPEF partners were offered a guided tour of IMDEA’s labs.

Good luck to all partners as they work to advance methodological specifications and inspire the development of regulatory frameworks for FCH systems. This effort aims to support policy making for an eco-friendly hydrogen economy and promote market benchmarking for FCH products.
